BENTONVILLE — Northwest Arkansas’ high school outdoor track and field schedule for 2017 will have a noticeable void in it.
There isn’t — and won’t be — a Tiger Relays scheduled for this spring in Bentonville.
Bentonville High boys track coach Mike Power said the school will not be hosting the annual event — normally the last meet in March held before spring break. Power said a number of reasons led to the decision not to have the meet.
The Border Clash, which Bentonville hosted in April and is comprised of schools from Arkansas, Oklahoma and Missouri, will be moved to Nixa, Mo., and be held March 31. Power said the Border Clash could return to the Tiger Athletic Complex in 2018.
Area track teams looking to fill the void the Tiger Relays in that schedule could opt for the Lion Invitational in Gravette, which is set for March 16, or the Tyson Relays in Green Forest that same day.
