For a second consecutive week, coach Zak Clark's Bulldogs have made enough plays to pull out tough roads wins. Springdale High is 2-0 for the first time since 2013 after Friday's 27-26 win at Alma.
Quarterback Layne Hutchins, in just his second career start, was strong, completing 18 of 27 passes for 249 yards and a touchdown to running back Erick Mendez.

SPRINGDALE — Zak Clark didn’t see the 2010 Shiloh Christian team that won its third consecutive state championship behind quarterback Kiehl Frazier. And despite the Springdale High coach’s Bulldogs beating Shiloh Christian 20-7 during the varsity portion of a benefit game on Tuesday night, Clark had high praise for this year’s version of the Saints.
“I wasn’t around for their last state championship run … but it’s the best Shiloh team that I’ve seen,” Clark said.
