LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - Pine Bluff’s defense did not give up a score in the second half and the Zebras held on for a 28-21 win over Greenwood in the Class 6A championship game.

It is the Zebras’ second consecutive state title and 10th in the modern playoff era.

Ladarius Skelton was named the game’s most valuable player for the second time after accounting for 296 all-purpose yards for Pine Bluff (13-0). He had 164 yards and one touchdown on the ground and 132 yards and two touchdowns through the air.

Pine Bluff cruised past Benton 51-10 Friday night at War Memorial Stadium to win the Class 6A state championship.

Here is a look back at the Zebras' win.

Championship No. 22

While the Arkansas Activities Association recognizes only nine, Pine Bluff claims 22 total state titles in its history.

Friday's win marked the Zebras' first since 1995, when they won three straight from 1993-1995.

Only Little Rock Central, with 30, has won more state championships in Arkansas history.

Skelton Named MVP

Talented junior Ladarius Skelton was named the most valuable player of the game after accounting for 285 yards and six touchdowns.

LITTLE ROCK (AP) -- Ladarius Skelton accounted for 285 yards and six touchdowns as Pine Bluff cruised to a 51-10 win over Benton in the Class 6A championship game.

It is Pine Bluff’s ninth state title recognized by the Arkansas Activities Association, but first since 1995.

Skelton, selected the game’s most valuable player, had 166 yards and four touchdowns on 8-of-14 passing and 119 yards and two touchdowns on 13 carries.
