For its second consecutive five-hour plus bus ride, Gravette’s travel itinerary isn’t changing much. The Lions won 37-27 at Pocahontas last Friday and head to Hamburg this Friday.
They traveled nearly 600 miles round trip to Pocahontas and will trek nearly 700 miles for the round trip to Hamburg.
“It’s about 15 minutes farther, so we’ll leave at 7:45 Friday morning, which about 15 minutes earlier (than last week),” said Gravette coach Bill Harrelson. “We’ll stop at (Arkansas-Monticello) instead of Harding to do (a walk-through). And we’ll get home about 4:30 (a.m.), which is about 15 minutes later than … Continue Reading ››
The Pirates finished 5-5 overall and 3-4 to take the No 5 seed from the 3A-1 Conference, but coach Lee Larkan isn’t pleased with the season as a whole.
“We don’t really consider 5-5 and a fifth-place seed (as) a good season,” Larkan said. “I don’t even think a fifth seed should be in the playoffs. We’re not going to say the season was disaster, but in our minds, 5-5 is unacceptable.”

Shiloh Christian ready for rivalry game
Prairie Grove and Shiloh Christian will hook up in a battle of unbeaten teams at Champions Stadium on Friday night.
In the past 10 years, the series is even at 5-5.
“It’s a big game, everyone knows that,” said Shiloh Christian coach Jeff Conaway. “It’s obviously the game of the week with two 5-0 teams an it’s been a very good rivalry.
“Our guys are going to be excited and up for the game, but … Continue Reading ››
Greenland suffered its first defeat, losing by a touchdown (19-12) at Gentry. The Pirates (2-1) allied for 12 points in the fourth quarter, but it was too little, too late after the Pioneers built a 19-0 lead.
Long-time Pirates coach Lee Larkan believes the game was lost much earlier after his team lost a fumble deep in its first drive of the game. They then lost tailback Michael McAdoo to an injury, and the senior is not expected to play this week against Clinton at home.
“We don't have much … Continue Reading ››
Following a physical, 21-20 overtime win against Ozark, Gravette coach Bill Harrelson is happy to report no new injuries.
However, the Lions will continue to be without receiver/safety Chris Childress, who suffered a knee injury during preseason practices, when they travel to Booneville for another stiff non-conference test at 7 p.m. Friday.
“We’re still going to miss Chris Childress, but we did feel fortunate to get out (of Friday’s win) without any injuries,” Harrelson said.
