Believe it or not, this one had plenty of defense... at least for a while.

Fayetteville forced FS Southside to punt on six of its first seven possessions and dominated the Rebels' strong run game the entire first half to set the tone. But the offenses took over after intermission and FS Southside simply couldn't keep up.

The Purple'Dogs (5-0, 2-0 7A-West) racked up 613 total yards, 333 coming on the ground, with both Luke Rapert and Javontae Smith going for over 100 yards each. Taylor Powell was his usual steady self, completing 25 of 35 for 255 yards and 5 TDs … Continue Reading ››

The final score might look like another blowout win in Fayetteville's favor. But things were far from easy much of the night at Mayo-Thompson Stadium for the Bulldogs. Fayetteville led just 18-11 in the final moments of the first half when QB Taylor Powell scrambled and found Tyson Morris for a 44-yard TD on a 4th and 20 play to increase the lead to 25-11. The breathing room was just what the Purple'Dogs (4-0, 1-0) needed, going back and forth with FS Northside (1-3, 0-1) for much of the second half before another Powell to Morris 44-yard TD and a Luke Waller … Continue Reading ››
