Rogers High Coach Mike Loyd wasn't too concerned about the final score in last week's two-quarter scrimmage, but he's worked to correct several mistakes from the 7-3 loss at Russellville.

The Mounties started with six dropped passes in their first two offensive series and also gave up a pair of big plays on Russellville's final offensive series that lead to the only touchdown.

"We have a young football team and we'll get better," Loyd said. "A safety missed a call and didn't communicate. If they don't have their phones, they don't know how to communicate. It cost us even in a scrimmage.

FARMINGTON — Carter Burcham threw for two touchdowns and ran for two more to lead Greenbrier to a 41-14 victory over Farmington in 5A-West Conference football action Friday night at Allen Holland Field.

Burcham, a senior quarterback, had an 11-yard touchdown run in the first quarter, then caused the sportsmanship rule to go into play with his 7-yard touchdown and two-point conversion pass to Alex Massey with 1 minute, 50 seconds left in the third quarter. He finished with 351 yards on 24 of 33 passing and added 66 yards on seven carries.

FARMINGTON — Jeremy Price’s Springdale High head coaching debut looked like it was going to end in a loss after 28 minutes at Farmington on Tuesday.

Then Springdale flipped a switch, scoring 11 straight points to take a lead in the final minute, weathering a cold-blooded Matt Thomas 3-pointer in the final seconds of regulation and then pulling away in overtime.

It all added up to a wild but welcome 57-51 overtime victory for Springdale.

“I’ll take it anyway I can get it, but yeah, that’s pretty stressful,” Price said.
