SPRINGDALE – Har-Ber's season came to a sudden end Friday at home as Bryant advanced to its first-ever state semifinals appearance behind a 23-16 win.

CABOT — I’d made it about 15 miles down I-49 on Wednesday morning when it hit me — I’d left my laptop at home.

My first thought as I took the West Fork exit and turned back around: I’m not going to make it to Cabot by the time the first game of the 7A state tournament tips off.

My second thought, immediately after: This seems like a terrible omen for how the rest … Continue Reading ››

Another year of high school sports is officially in the books, and there is still three more months before the next one begins. Still, it didn't take long for some people to look beyond next season, especially when the Arkansas Activities Association released the classification numbers for the 2016-18 cycle on April 30. These numbers — consisting of a school's average number of students in grades 9-11 over a three-year span — determine a school's classification for those two school years. Smith’s catch and Bennett Moehring’s extra-point kick gave Bentonville (7-4) a 10-7 cushion with 7 minutes, 48 seconds remaining. The … Continue Reading ››

One of the projects I took on this summer (voluntarily, I might add) was to compile the won-loss records for every high school football team in the state since 2001, just to see what interesting information might be revealed.

Why 2001, you might ask? In my mind, it's the beginning of the 21st century. You may beg to differ, but let's save that argument for another time.

Anyway, here are some things I gathered after my project was completed.
