Bentonville High Tigers attempt to reach full strength

Bentonville was without three starters last week when the Tigers completed nonconference play with a 19-7 victory at Conway.

Senior tailback Jacob Clark, linebacker Jared Ritchie and defensive lineman Jack Patterson were on the sidelines last week with injuries, and Bentonville coach Jody Grant is hopeful his team will be in better health this week for its 7A-West Conference opener Friday at Fayetteville.

"Having those starters out affected us a little bit," Grant said. "But that's part of the game, and we just moved the next man up.

BENTONVILLE — Muskogee jumped out to a 28-0 first-quarter lead Friday night, and the Roughers and went on to ruin Bentonville West' first-ever home game with a 62-13 victory Friday over the Wolverines in Tiger Stadium.

Moe Gilbert ran for two short touchdown runs, and Muskogee's defense turned two turnovers into touchdowns in the first quarter for the big lead. Devin Hillmon intercepted a pass by backup quarterback Jake West — who was filling in for an injured Will Jarrett — and returned it 20 yards for a score, and Kaleel Smith knocked the ball out of West's hands in the … Continue Reading ››

PRYOR, Okla. — Cole Thompson ran for two second-half touchdowns and helped Pryor ruin Bentonville West's inaugural game with a 33-12 win Friday night over the Wolverines at Tiger Stadium.

Pryor (1-0) led 16-12 at halftime, then took the second-half kickoff and ran almost 8 1/2 minutes off the clock before settling for Will Considine's 31-yard field goal. West (0-1) then drove to the Tigers' 23 before Will Jarrett's pass was intercepted by Max Jordan, who returned the ball 67 yards to the Wolverines' 33 late in the third quarter.

That's when Thompson took over. He scored on an 8-yard run … Continue Reading ››
