Rogers High Coach Mike Loyd wasn't too concerned about the final score in last week's two-quarter scrimmage, but he's worked to correct several mistakes from the 7-3 loss at Russellville.

The Mounties started with six dropped passes in their first two offensive series and also gave up a pair of big plays on Russellville's final offensive series that lead to the only touchdown.

"We have a young football team and we'll get better," Loyd said. "A safety missed a call and didn't communicate. If they don't have their phones, they don't know how to communicate. It cost us even in a scrimmage.

Coach Greg White and Bentonville West are heading to the state tournament. In its first year of existence, West clinched a state tournament berth with its 10-point win against Rogers Tuesday.

Garrett Wilmot scored a game-high 24 points, including five 3-pointers, to help the Wolverines clinch on the road.

Jeremy Price's young Springdale team dropped its fifth straight game Friday, falling to Van Buren, 47-34, behind Jordan West's game-high 18 points.

The Red'Dogs currently sit on the outside looking into the state tournament as the final week of the regular season begins. At 6-18 and 3-9 in league play, Springdale is still only a game behind Bentonville West in the standings with two games left, though. They'll need luck on their side to get in.
