Springdale Har-Ber Wood pleased with Allen, offense’s efficiency Junior quarterback Grant Allen played his way toward the top of the Har-Ber record books Friday in the Wildcats’ opener at Fort Smith Southside. 'Efficient'Screen Shot 2017-09-06 at 3.57.55 PM was the first word that came to mind for coach Chris Wood when recalling Allen’s 370-yard, six-touchdown effort. Allen threw for the fifth-most passing yards in the school’s 12-year history and his six passing scores tied for second-most in a single game. “He did a really good job. Rogers High Coach Mike Loyd wasn't too concerned about the final score in last week's two-quarter scrimmage, but he's worked to correct several mistakes from the 7-3 loss at Russellville.

The Mounties started with six dropped passes in their first two offensive series and also gave up a pair of big plays on Russellville's final offensive series that lead to the only touchdown.

"We have a young football team and we'll get better," Loyd said. "A safety missed a call and didn't communicate. If they don't have their phones, they don't know how to communicate. It cost us even in a scrimmage.

"But we're … Continue Reading ››

Averaging more than seven yards per run, Prairie Grove didn’t need to pass much to defeat Gosnell 48-26 at Tiger Stadium on Friday.

When senior quarterback Zeke Laird did drop back to throw, he was effective and efficient by completing 10 of 14 passes for 147 yards and touchdowns to three different receivers.

Of course, senior speed demon Isaac Disney is a weapon (3 receptions, 40 yards, 1 touchdown), but tight end Demarkus Cooper proved to be just as dangerous and difficult to tackle. The Tigers’ 6-foot-1, 220-pound junior tight end finished with three grabs for 82 yards and a touchdown.

Cooper’s … Continue Reading ››

We’re not going to say the season was disaster, but in our minds, 5-5 is unacceptable.” Atkins (7-2-1) finished 6-1 to finish second in … Continue Reading ››
