Springdale Har-Ber – Week of Jan. 16

Scott Bowlin’s Wildcats are rolling. Har-Ber, 3-0 in the 7A-West, protected its homefloor against rival Springdale High and Bentonville High last week.

His club then traveled to central Arkansas and came back with an overtime win over Little Rock Christian. Har-Ber’s winning streak has now reached seven games as week three of conference play begins.

First-year coach Jaime Green’s Lady Wildcats are still in search of their first league win after another tough home loss Friday to Bentonville.

Here is what’s going on this week at Springdale Har-Ber:

Wildcats

Har-Ber is the hottest team in the 7A-West at the moment, and Tylor Perry may very well be the cause for that. The sophomore finished Har-Ber’s three-game week with a pair of 20-point performances against Bentonville and LR Christian.

Perry scored a game-high 26 vs. the Tigers and poured in 24 more Saturday in Little Rock. To go along with his 26 points and five 3-pointers Friday, he also grabbed seven rebounds and recorded seven steals.

Bowlin’s club travels to Bentonville West, a young but tough team, Tuesday looking to move its winning streak to eight games.

What may be more impressive is Har-Ber finished the week 3-0 and was largely without star guard Tyler Garrett, who missed Friday and Saturday’s games with a head injury he suffered against Springdale High last Monday.

Har-Ber welcomes in Fayetteville Friday to cap the week.

Lady Wildcats

7A-West play hasn’t begun like Har-Ber would have liked, but a strong chance for win No. 1 in conference presents itself Tuesday at West.

Savanna Collins has led the Lady Wildcats in scoring the last two games – 13 vs. Bentonville, 10 vs. Springdale. She’s averaging 11.6 points per game in 7A-West play.

Karrington Whaley, a Henderson State commit, will be looked to for production with guards Maci Mains and Khanni Shannon out with injuries.  She scored 16 points in the league opener at Rogers High.

After West, the road doesn’t get easier as conference front-runner Fayetteville visits Har-Ber.  The Lady Wildcats then travel to 3-0 Van Buren to begin next week.
