Shiloh Christian football coach Josh Floyd didn’t want to say his team’s new football helmets are “glittery,” but they have a definite amount of bling to them with a metalic look

The Saints for years have worn a matte finish gold helmet. But the new Riddell helmets glisten with silvery glitter in the gold paint, making them very similar to those worn by Notre Dame.

“We wanted a little different look and we liked these,” Floyd said as his team prepared for spring practice on Thursday.

So the move to Class 4A this fall won’t be the only thing new for the seven time state champion Saints.

Floyd said former quarterback Daniel Shimer was planning on walking on at Arkansas this fall.

Shimer was compiling a stellar season last year when his season was ended with a torn ACL in week seven. Prior to the injury, the dual-threat quarterback had rushed for more than 1,000 yards and passed for more than 1,500 with four games remaining in the regular season.

Shimer had looked at several smaller schools this spring, but decided walking on at Arkansas was his best option.
