Logan Easley of Rogers Hertage throws against Fayetteville Monday, April 18, 2016 in Fayetteville. The Bulldogs won 6-1.

COACH: Mitch Cameron.

LAST YEAR’S RECORD: 10-18 overall, 4-10 7A-West.

KEY PLAYERS: P/INF Logan Easley (Sr.), P/OF Dylan Qualls (Jr.), UT/P Noah Guill (Sr.), 1B/3B Kaleb Gavin (Sr.)
TOP NEWCOMERS: INF Ben Pollock (Fresh.), INF Alec Almeda (Fresh.), OF Alex Nowak (Soph.).
THE SKINNY: Heritage failed to make the state tournament a year ago, but returns five starters and a pair of pitchers who threw significant conference innings. Senior Logan Eaglesy, a Wichita State signee, and junior Dylan Qualls should be a strong 1-2 punch, offensively, defensively and on the mound. Coach Mitch Cameron said defense should be a strength and the War Eagles could get a boost from freshmen Alec Almeda and Ben Pollock, along with sophomore Alex Nowak. The War Eagles open the season on Friday at Stillwater, Okla.
