Pea Ridge took a two-touchdown lead in the first quarter and made it stand up for a 30-13 win over Shiloh Christian. The win wrapped up the No. 2 playoff seed for the Blackhawks, who will host Arkadelphia in the first round of the Class 4A state playoffs next week.
Drew Winn rushed for 124 yards on 11 carries and scored a pair of touchdowns, including a 73-yard touchdown run on the Blackhawks’ second offensive play. Zaine Holley added 79 yards on 20 carries and two touchdowns for Pea Ridge (9-1, 6-1).
Shiloh Christian (8-2, 5-2) trailed 15-7, but pulled within 15-13 on Broc Berus’ 13-yard touchdown run midway through the third quarter. Berus rushed for 139 yards on 20 carries for the Saints.
Pea Ridge scored on back-to-back possessions, and had another touchdown wiped out when Britton Caudill was stripped of the ball going into the end zone for a touchback.
“Our defense played really well, but they’ve played really well all year long,” Pea Ridge coach Stephen Neal said. “Coach (Lafe) Caton did a great job getting those guys ready with their game plan this week. I don’t know how many times I was on the headset tonight and just said ‘great call coach, great call.'”
Shiloh Christian will host Crossett next week in a first-round playoff game.
