Pea Ridge’s Winn wins Athlete of the Week


Pea Ridge senior running back Drew Winn literally ran away with this week’s ARPreps.com Athlete of the Week honors.

Winn rushed 20 times for a season-high 313 yards and 4 touchdowns — including runs of 80 and 62 yards — in a 42-28 win over Gravette. He also added a catch for 19 yards. Winn outran Lions’ running back Austin O’Brien, who finished with a season-high 288 yards and 2 touchdowns on 25 carries.

It was the second big game in a row for the Blackhawks’ speedster, who was coming off a 270-yards, 4-touchdown performance a week earlier. For the season, Winn has 117 carries for 1,174 yards and 17 touchdowns for the unbeaten Blackhawks. He’s averaging 10 yards per carry and a whopping 195.7 yards per game.

Here’s a look at other top performers from the past week:

DARIUS BOWERS, FAYETTEVILLE Junior passed for five touchdowns and rushed for another in a 52-14 win over Rogers High, which snapped a four-game losing streak. He was 29-for-40 passing for a season-high 472 yards.

TRISTIN BREWER, PEA RIDGE Linebacker was a force for the Blackhawks’ defense Friday night in a 42-28 win against Gravette.

JON FAULKENBERRY, GENTRY Carried 18 times for 200 yards and was 7 of 10 passing for 117 yards in a 42-18 victory over Huntsville.

CODY GRAY, FAYETTEVILLE Caught 6 passes for 114 yards, including touchdowns passes of 41 and 50 yards, in a 52-14 win over Rogers High.

WALTER GREEN, VAN BUREN Rushed for 192 yards and three touchdowns in the Pointers’ 29-28 overtime loss to Rogers Heritage.

PEYTON HOLT, GREENWOOD Scored three touchdowns — two receiving and one rushing — and caught five passes for 145 yards in 38-0 win against Siloam Springs.

JADON JACKSON, BENTONVILLE WEST Caught nine passes for 249 yards and three touchdowns in the Wolverines’ win at Springdale High.

WILL JARRETT, BENTONVILLE WEST Threw for 404 yards and three touchdowns in West’s win at Springdale.

AUSTIN JENSEN, ALMA Rushed for 116 yards and 2 touchdowns on 20 carries. Also completed 9 of 23 passes for 223 yards and two more scores in 38-35 loss against Morrilton.

BRAYDEN JOHNSON, ALMA Hauled in 5 catches for 173 yards and 2 touchdowns while also throwing a 38-yard touchdown pass in a losing effort against Morrilton.

TREY KITTERMAN, ROGERS HERITAGE Rushed for 139 yards and two touchdowns and threw for 113 in the War Eagles’ 29-28 overtime win over Van Buren.

NATHAN LYONS, BENTONVILLE HIGH Completed 12 of 23 passes for 141 yards and one touchdown and ran for 81 yards and another score in the Tigers’ 24-21 upset victory over Springdale Har-Ber.

MYLES MCFERRON, GENTRY Carried 25 times for 133 yards and a touchdown to help the Pioneers defeat Huntsville.

AUSTIN O’BRIEN, GRAVETTE Rushed for 283 yards and scored three touchdowns (including one receiving) in a losing effort against Pea Ridge.

KAM’RON MAYS-HUNT, BENTONVILLE HIGH Started the fourth quarter with an interception deep in Tigers’ territory, then recovered the fumble to preserve his team’s victory.

EASTON MILLER, BENTONVILLE HIGH Had 134 yards and a touchdown on 29 carries as the Tigers remained undefeated in 7A-West Conference play.

KRIS MULINGA, FAYETTEVILLE Had career night with 16 receptions for season-high 207 yards, including a 79-yard touchdown when Rogers High left him in single coverage.

DYLAN QUALLS, ROGERS HERITAGE Rushed for 133 yards, two touchdowns and the game-winning two-point conversion in Heritage’s win over Van Buren.

TREY WOODS, GREENWOOD Intercepted two passes as Bulldogs shutout Siloam Springs 38-0.

TAJAE WHITE, GRAVETTE Junior quarterback rushed for 119 yards on 23 carries in the 42-28 loss to Pea Ridge.
