Jacob Winkel became Rogers Heritage's first golfer to qualify for the Overall State Golf Tournament last season, but now coach Jay Gilstrap is hoping his team can become a contender as well.<br><br> Senior Matt Cochran and junior Logan Rumsey are the lone holdovers, who played in the top five a year ago. Rogers High boys golf coach Marcus Alexander can't help but be excited for the upcoming season. Bentonville High Golf Preview

Bentonville High's girls golfers appeared to be headed toward a rebuilding phase this fall.

The Lady Tigers lost three starters from last year's state runnerup team, including Class 7A state individual champion Kate Robertson and all-state player Maddie Weston. If that wasn't enough, there weren't any girls trying out to fill those voids and left the numbers even smaller.

Old Prep Basketball State Tournament Programs (1983-92)

By this time, the AAA archives are pretty bare of state tournament programs. The archives did have a few overall tournament programs during this period, but the rest were provided by Fort Smith sportswriter/historian Leland Barclay and myself. 1992 was the last year of the Overall Tournament. After that, the AAA went to a State Finals format where every championship game was played at one site. It has been at Barton Colesium in Little Rock, the Pine Bluff Convention Center, Verizon Arena in North Little Rock and the Hot Springs Convention Center. Old Prep Basketball State Tournament Programs (1976-79)

The only item from 1979 at the AAA archives was the 1979 Boys Overall Program. That was the year that Class B Parkdale shocked the state by winning the Overall, the first small school to do so. Also, by the late 1970s, the state tournaments began to move away from Barton Coliseum and move to various sites all over the state.
