Nearly 160 players were in attendance for Fayetteville's first practice leading up to the 2014 season. That's a record number for the Purple Bulldogs, who showed plenty of energy and enthusiasm on the first day of drills.
The Purple'Dogs, like all teams, have plenty of questions that still need to be answered before the start of the season. The biggest is who will be playing quarterback once the first Friday in September rolls around.
Fayetteville coach Daryl Patton indicated that there will be a starting quarterback … Continue Reading ››

Gravette hosted a team camp on Monday that drew both Farmington and Pea Ridge squads in addition to the Lions.
I spoke with coaches of all three teams, and all three gave the same answer when asked about the advantages of team camps as opposed to the rapidly growing trend of 7-on-7.
"I believe there are benefits to both. I think team camps are more beneficial because it's 11-on-11 and you can involve the linemen. We did a lot more team camps this year for that very reason, to get our linemen involved," Pea Ridge coach Tony Travis said.

Dustin Peters has elected to step down as Gravette's boys basketball coach in order to become the new girls basketball coach at Scranton.
Peters turned in resignation Monday morning at Gravette, where he had been the last five years. The Lions finished 20-9 last season under Peters, where they finished third in the 4A-1 Conference and reached the Class 4A North Region Tournament.
Peters said it was a family decision that swayed him to taking the new position.
"Ozark called and gave my wife a good job last year, and I want to be living with my wife and kids," Peters said. "It's … Continue Reading ››
Fayetteville looked like the top squad at the Southwest Elite 7-on-7 Showcase through Friday's pool play, finishing a perfect 7-0. And the Bulldogs appeared to be one of the top teams to beat coming out of Saturday's morning session, with easy victories over Van Buren and Rogers Heritage in bracket play.
But one slip up, one off game at the wrong time, can cost you in this tournament. And Fayetteville found that out the hard way Saturday afternoon.
Facing a Harrison team it had previously defeated twice over the summer at other 7-on-7 weekend tournaments, the Bulldogs started slow and couldn't fully … Continue Reading ››
Smith has played on the Saints' varsity for four seasons. Last season he was injured late and missed Shiloh Christian's playoff game and was held out of spring contact drills. He has since been cleared and has participated in all the Saints' team camps and 7-on-7s this summer.
