Northwest Arkansas schools dominate MaxPreps Cup field

Northwest Arkansas had three of the state’s five top finishers in the MaxPreps Cup standings for the 2014-15 school year, according to Monday’s announcement.

Bentonville, which became the first school in the country to win back-to-back MaxPreps Cup titles, was an overwhelming winner after corrections were made in the point totals. Bentonville finished with 1,202 points after originally being announced with 1,092 points in the original release.

Pulaski Academy was a distant second with 418 points, followed by Fayetteville with 404, Siloam Springs with 388 and Lake Hamilton with 332.

Pulaski Academy, a Class 5A school, won state championships in football and girls swimming and took state runnerup in boys tennis, girls basketball, girls soccer and boys soccer. Fayetteville claimed 7A state titles in boys golf and girls basketball and took runnerup in football, volleyball and softball.

Siloam Springs took Class 6A state titles in girls cross country and girls soccer, then took runnerup in girls basketball, boys cross country and boys soccer. Lake Hamilton won Class 6A state titles in girls tennis, boys cross country and boys track, then finished as state runnerup in girls cross country.
