Northwest Arkansas’ Playoff Possibilities

With just one week remaining in the regular season, here are how football teams in Northwest Arkansas stand as far as playoff possibilities go.

7A-West

Bentonville: Can finish as high as No. 1 seed and earn first-round bye with a win over Fayetteville and a Fort Smith Northside win over Fort Smith Southside. Can finish as low as No. 4 seed with a loss to Fayetteville and a Northside win, but host a first-round playoff game.

Fayetteville: Can finish as high as No. 1 seed and earn first-round bye with a win over Bentonville and a Southside win over Northside. Can finish as low as No. 4 seed with a loss to Bentonville and a Southside win.

Springdale Har-Ber/Rogers Heritage: The winner of Friday’s game earns the No. 5 seed and will travel to a first-round game against the No. 2 seed from the 7A-Central, which will be the loser of Friday’s game between Conway and Bryant. The loser of Friday’s game takes the No. 6 seed and will travel to a first-round game against the No. 2 seed from the 7A-East, which will be the loser of Thursday’s game between North Little Rock and Little Rock Central.

6A-Central

Siloam Springs: Can finish as high as a No. 2 seed with a win over Russellville and a Greenwood win over Alma. Could be eliminated with a loss to Russellville of 3 or more points.

4A-1

Pea Ridge/Shiloh Christian: Winner of Friday’s game earns the conference’s No. 1 seed and a first-round bye in the playoffs. Loser will receive the No. 2 seed and will host a first-round game against the No. 5 seed from the 4A-3.

Prairie Grove: Has already locked up the No. 3 seed and will host a first-round playoff game against the No. 4 seed from the 4A-2.

Gravette/Gentry: Winner of Friday’s game earns the conference’s No. 4 seed and would travel to the No. 2 seed from the 4A-8, which is the loser of Friday’s game between Warren and Pine Bluff Dollarway. Loser of Friday’s game receives the No. 5 seed and would travel to the 4A-8 champion, which will be the Warren-Dollarway winner.

3A-1

West Fork: Will win the conference’s No. 1 seed outright and earn a first-round bye with a win Friday. Could finish as low as the No. 3 seed ONLY if Greenland wins by 1-2 points and Mountain View beat Cedarville by 12-13+ points.

Greenland: Could win the conference’s No. 1 seed and the first-round bye with a win over West Fork of more than 3 points OR a win over West Fork and a Mountain View loss. Would fall as low as a No. 3 seed with a loss OR a win over West Fork by 1-2 points and a Mountain View win of 12-13+ points.

Elkins: Takes the conference’s No. 4 seed with a win over Green Forest and would travel for its first-round game to the No. 3 seed of the 3A-3. Takes the No. 5 seed with a loss and would travel for its first-round game to 3A-2 champion Harding Academy.

2A-4

Decatur: Earns a playoff berth with a win over Magazine and a Union Christian loss to Western Yell County. The Bulldogs would receive the conference’s No. 5 seed and travel to Hazen, the No. 1 seed from the 2A-6 Conference, for a first-round game.
