Heritage Sweeps Rogers High To Claim Share Of 7A-West Title

Rogers Heritage senior Hunter Wood said he wanted a win against cross-town rival Rogers High in the worst way in his final home start on the mound at Veterans Park.
The War Eagles gave him seven runs in the first inning and Wood did the rest Thursday afternoon.
Wood allowed just two hits over five innings as Heritage cruised to a 10-0 mercy-rule victory in the first game of their 7A-West Conference doubleheader.
“Seven in the first, all I knew is I had to go out there and throw strikes and no walks,” Wood said. “I hit my spots really well today. But I knew I just wanted to let my defense do their job.”
