LITTLE ROCK ARPreps.com Rankings for Week 4, Sept 23:
Class 7A
1.) Bentonville (4-0) — Beat the former no. 2 team in 7A handily. Can anyone beat them?
2.) Fort Smith Southside (3-1) — They cruised over Rogers, good enough to pull them into second.
3.) Conway (3-1) — Second straight dominant win, this one over Cabot. The Wampus Cats are getting better.
4.) Har-Ber (3-1) — A couple of dominant wins make Har-Ber an easy choice to join the rankings.
5.) West Memphis (4-0) — Thrashed Little Rock Hall, good enough to keep you in the rankings. The real test will be next week when the Blue Devils play Marion.
Class 6A
1.) El Dorado (4-0) — Took a laugher at home against Little Rock Fair that wasn't even as close as the score.
2.) Marion (4-0) — Beating no. 4 Searcy? Even by just a 36-31 margin, makes the Patriots look really good heading deeper into 7A/6A East Conference play.
3.) Lake Hamilton (3-1) — A 41-0 shutout of Sheridan keeps them in the rankings.
4.) Searcy (3-1) — Gets a reprieve because it was a close loss to another ranked squad. Good games get rewarded.
5.) Pine Bluff (2-2) — Not sure what that says about the talent pool in 6A, but a good win over Benton tonight brings the Zebras back into the rankings after a week away.
Class 5A
1.) Greenwood (4-0) — Another week, another dominant win. This one of a good Siloam Springs team.
2.) Greenbrier (4-0) — Green teams still rule the roost in 5A. Beat down Harrison on the road.
3.) Alma (3-1) — Beating a previously-ranked Morrilton team can help keep you in it. But they'll need a more convincing win in the near future to stick around.
4.) Monticello (3-0-1) — A 19-7 win over sub-par Mills isn't how you normally move up. But it keeps them in it.
5.) Camden Fairview (3-1) — After a season-opening loss to powerhouse El Dorado, the Cardinals have rolled their last three opponents an average of 36-11. Welcome to the party.
Class 4A
1.) Pulaski Academy (4-0) — Routing a mediocre Maumelle team? Well, it's Pulaski Academy. They stay looking down on 4A.
2.) Heber Springs (4-0) — Hung 63 on Lonoke. That offense gets better and better.
3.) Ashdown (4-0) — The Panthers opened the 4A-7 Conference season with a 28-0 shutout at Pulaski Robinson, they're second shutout in four games. The defense hasn't lost a step from last season.
4.) Gravette (4-0) — Some impressive wins slides them into the rankings. Keep it up and there's plenty of room for improvement.
5.) Pottsville (3-0-1) — Honestly, that season-opening tie stuck with them in a negative light for awhile. But the Apaches have recovered and look very good with a lot of young talent.
Class 3A
1.) Harding Academy (3-1) — Allowed seven points the last two weeks and dispatched Episcopal Collegiate 49-7. Stay on top with those kind of numbers.
2.) Greenland (4-0) — A shutout of Marshall (41-0) keeps them at no. 2. A solid team in NWA.
3.) Arkansas Baptist (4-0) — The Eagles have been shutting everyone down, this week is was a shutout of Barton. Now they get ready to welcome in Harding Academy for what will probably be the 3A-2 Conference title game.
4.) Fordyce (4-0) — Pounding a relatively weak Genoa Central team 49-0 does enough to hold a team steady. That's a win that is how it should be.
5.) Earle (4-0) — Same as the Redbugs, hanging a big number — 62 — on a struggling team (Bald Knob) keeps you a spot, it doesn't boost it.
Class 2A
1.) Magazine (4-0) — A schlacking of Union Christian (49-18) shows that the Rattlers can do no wrong right now. Staying on top.
2.) Danville (4-0) — Their shutout of Western Yell County made them even more viable for the no. 1 spot, but they might need a loss or at least a close win by Magazine to take it away from them.
3.) East Poinsett County (4-0) — Blanking Cross County 48-0 makes the Warriors look good, but the rankings bow to no one for a win they should get.
4.) Bearden (3-0) — A win on the road against a very good Strong team? That'll push you up a spot. That and a loss by previous no. 4 Magnet Cove.
5.) Carlisle (4-0) — Bo Weddle makes this team go, but regardless, they've been dominant, allowing only one opponent double-digit points and going for 30+ in each game. Hello, rankings.
