Hoping to become a more sure-handed wide receiver, Nathan Varady resorted to playing catch with tennis balls and bricks in the offseason.

NOTABLE: Varady saw limited playing time last season, but he's preparing for an increased role as a junior. He's penciled in as a starting wide receiver. ... Fayetteville coach Daryl Patton said Varady could also see playing time at a safety position. The junior is perhaps the team's fastest player (4.4 seconds in the 40-yard dash).
