David Carpenter, 52, has coached Junction City to a 116-33 record since 1996, highlighted by 10 consecutive playoff trips and the Class AA state championship in 2003. Carpenter also coached the school, which draws students from Louisiana because it's only about a half-mile from the border, from 1990-1993.
