Har-Ber’s Hannon Earns POTW Honors

Springdale Har-Ber senior running back Luke Hannon earned his second Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette Player of the Week honor after totaling 377 all-purpose yards and five touchdowns in the Wildcats’ 47-43 win over No. 1 Fayetteville.

Hannon was a workhorse for Har-Ber in its second straight marquee win, a week after the Wildcats beat defending state champion Bentonville. Against Fayetteville, he ran for 333 yards on 47 carries, both career-highs. He scored on touchdown runs of 7, 1, 19 and 3 yards.

Hannon also caught two passes for 44 yards, including wrestling the ball away from a Fayetteville defensive back in the end zone for a 27-yard touchdown on the final play of the first half.

For the season, Hannon has totaled a 7A-West leading 1,112 yards and 12 touchdowns, averaging 6.6 yards per carry and 158.9 yards per game.

Hannon is closing in on the 3,000-yard rushing mark for his three-year career. Entering this week, he has run for 2,923 yards and 27 touchdowns.

OTHER TOP PERFORMERS

Broc Berus, Shiloh Christian: Berus ran for 130 yards and three touchdowns on just 10 carries in a 42-14 win over Gentry. He scored on runs of 5, 3 and 47 yards.

Logan Darby, Bentonville: The senior safety intercepted two passes in the first quarter of the Tigers’ 28-3 win over Springdale.

Max Frazier, Fort Smith Northside: Frazier put together Northside’s best game from the quarterback position this year, throwing for 122 yards and a touchdown while also running for 140 yards in a 30-9 win over Rogers.

Hayden Holtgrewe, Pea Ridge: Holtgrewe caught seven passes for 163 yards and a touchdown in a 40-16 loss to Prairie Grove.

Brayden Johnson, Alma: Johnson caught five passes for 117 yards, including a 65-yard touchdown pass in the second quarter of the Airedales’ 40-35 win over Conway.

Blake Kern, Lamar: Kern intercepted two passes in a 38-20 win over Charleston.

Brian Lemus, Huntsville: Lemus ran for 167 yards and two touchdowns in a 27-26 loss at Lincoln.

J.J. Miller, Elkins: Miller had 11 tackles and returned a fumble 38 yards for a score in a 16-6 win over Cedarville.

Alex Sisemore, Greenland: The senior running back had 198 yards and three touchdowns on 30 carries in a 39-18 win over Marshall as the Pirates improved to 7-0.

  1. A well deserved award for Luke Hannon. The defense played a very good game but Hannon carried the offense on his back and legs. He is a warrior!
