Fayetteville’s Miller Pleimann was the clear choice as ARPreps.com’s Athlete of the Week.
Pleimann, a junior-right-hander, has thrown four consecutive one-hitters, but none more impressive than his outing during a 1-0 home victory against Rogers High in nine innings.
The Wichita State pledge didn’t allow a hit until a one-out single in seventh inning and only walked one while striking out 13 Mounties. Pleimann appeared to get stronger in the latter innings as four of his strikeouts came in the eight and ninth.
Pleimann (4-1) pounded the zone with 72 strikes in 101 pitches and threw first-pitch strikes to 21 of 28 batters. In addition to striking out nearly half of the possible outs in nine innings, Pleimann induced nine ground outs and only four fly outs. The lone single he surrendered resulted in an inning-ending double play.
His efforts have helped the Bulldogs begin 7A-West conference play with a 5-1 record and imrprove to 10-9 overall.
