The Bulldogs and Purple’Dogs combined for a 4-0 record last week.
Fayetteville’s girls will look to continue running the 7A-West table this week. The Lady Bulldogs are 23-2 overall and 10-0 in conference play heading into Tuesday’s game at Rogers Heritage.
Freshman Sasha Goforth averaged 15 points per game last week while junior Jasmine Franklin put up 13 points and grabbed eight rebounds per game. Goforth also blocked five shots against Rogers High (see photo) and dished out five assists against Bentonville West.
Fayetteville’s boys need to continue winning to remain in the top six of the conference and earn a spot in the state tournament. The Bulldogs defeated Bentonville West and Rogers High last week to improve to 4-6 in league play.
With four games remaining, including a trip to Rogers Heritage on Tuesday and a home game against Springdale Har-Ber on Friday, the Bulldogs are tied with Bentonville West for fifth place and sit one game ahead of Springdale High in the 7A-West standings.
Senior guard Tyler Roth averaged 18.5 points per game last week, including 22 in a 68-54 win at Bentonville West on Tuesday.
In wrestling, Bruce Arroyos was the only Bulldogs wrestler to reach the Big West Conference finals in any weight class. He finished runner-up to Bentonville’s Logan Smith in the 132-pound division.
Fayetteville finished sixth overall out of 14 teams competing at the meet, which was hosted by Bentonville West on Saturday.
