Cooper will be looked to to handle the ball and carry a bulk of the scoring load early. … Despite a sub-.500 overall record, Fayetteville finished fourth in the 7A-West with an 8-6 mark and had the third-best scoring offense in the league in 2017. The Purple’Dogs won their final six conference games. … Tyler Roth (Harding), Caleb Finney (all-conference selection) and Brennon Lewis (Memphis football) are key departures from last season. … Darius Bowers, Jon Conley, Frank Morgan and Cody Gray are expected to make an impact following football season.

NOTABLE Claimed its seventh state championship in the spring, most by a girls program in Arkansas high school basketball history. … Rimmer returns 2017 state tournament Most Valuable Player Sasha Goforth and senior forward Jasmine Franklin – a Missouri State signee. Goforth became the first freshman to earn state tournament MVP honors in 2017. … Sophomore guard Coriah Beck is expected to play a big role in the Lady Purple’Dogs backcourt following the departure of Wyvette Mayberry to Watson Chapel. Kylee Coulter (Omaha), Ashley Breathitt, Lauren Holmes (North Texas), Grayce Spangler (Arkansas) and Maya Mayberry (Oral Roberts) are key departures from a season ago.
