NORTH LITTLE ROCK – Fayetteville scored 53 straight points en route to a blowout win over North Little Rock.
After going three-and-out and giving up a touchdown to start the game, the Bulldogs settled down and quickly regained the lead.
Taylor Powell had an 18-yard touchdown pass and 5-yard touchdown run on consecutive drives, sandwiched around an onside kick recovery, to give Fayetteville a 15-7 lead.
The lead ballooned to 38-7 by the end of the first quarter and 53-7 by halftime. North Little Rock added a touchdown in the final two minutes, but couldn’t find an answer for Fayetteville’s offense.
Powell finished the game 23 of 29 for 323 yards and four touchdowns. He also had the one rushing touchdown.
Fayetteville returns home next week for a game against Muskogee (Okla.).
