There were two players we focused in on for Athlete of the Week honors, but Farmington’s Tyler Gregg had a pitching performance that put the senior over the top.

Farmington’s Tyler Gregg pitched a perfect game against Clarksville.

In addition to hitting for considerable power during recent games, Gregg fired a perfect game during a 13-0 victory over Clarksville. He needed just 56 pitches, including 39 strikes, to surrender all 15 batters he faced. That included 8 strikeouts, 4 ground outs and 3 fly outs. He also hit a two-run homer in the game.

Gregg is riding a 10-game hitting streak for the 12-4 Cardinals. During four games at the Gulf Shores (Ala.) Spring Break Classic, the Crowder College signee was 8-for-15 with a home run and 10 RBIs. He drove in four runs during two of Farmington’s games.

The other player in contention was Bentonville West’s Jason Gloeckner. The six-hole hitter was 7-for-8 with nine RBIs, including six in one game, to help the Wolverines finish 3-0 at the Jarren Sorters Memorial Round Robin in Prairie Grove.

Another noteworthy performance was by Fayetteville’s Miller Pleimann. The 6-foot-3, 180-pound junior and recent Wichita State verbal commitment struck out 10 batters while throwing a one-hit shutout over five innings of a 10-0 win over Surprise (Ariz.) Valley Vista.
