THE SKINNY The Lady Cards lost 5-4 to Beebe in the first round of the state tourney after Beebe rallied for three runs in the seventh inning. … Paige Devecsery returns on the mound after overcoming an offseason knee injury. She’s a power pitcher who posted a 14-8 record with a 2.21 ERA and 8 shutouts last season. … Farmington returns six starters, including senior first baseman Callie Harper and senior third baseman Brandi Wallace. Harper batted .430 with 21 RBIs and Wallace batted .529 with 14 doubles and 33 RBIs … “If we go with the variety lineup we’ve had in the last few weeks of practice, we don’t have any slappers, so we’ll be more of a traditional lineup with a lot of power and we will try to string together some hits,” Osnes said. … Alyssa Reed returns after an all-conference performance as a freshman catcher last season and will bat clean-up. She hit .427 last season with 33 RBIs and threw out 7-of-21 of base stealing attempts. … Camryn Journagan and Madison Parrish provide speed and experience on defense and offense. Journagan batted .438 last season and Parrish, who patrols centerfield, drove in 23 runs. … Carly Antwine, when she returns from a recent injury, could switch to shortstop after starting at second base a year ago. … Anna Bennett was 11 of 11 of stolen base attempts. … Three freshmen should contribute as well. … “We have a great mix from all four classes and even though we’re one of the smallest 5A schools (attendance-wise), it doesn’t matter with our kids. They still believe we can make a run at a state championship and I believe we can, too.”
