THE SKINNY The Cardinals return right-handed pitcher Tyler Gregg, who has signed with Crowder College in Neosho, Mo. … Coach Jay Harper said it has taken his team “a couple of seasons to adjust” after moving up to Class 5A two seasons ago. But he believes this is the year they’ll compete even better than last year’s team, which reached the state tourney. … The Cards return the bulk of their lineup, including batters one through six in the order. … Harper said he “feels pretty good about our pitching” and adds that “if our pitching is there and we’re able to hit a little, then we can beat their best.” … Farmington went 0-2 to start the season with a 1-0 loss against 6A Russelville and a 9-7 loss against Maumelle on Monday.
