West Memphis is looking for a new football coach after Lanny Dauksch resigned to become the school’s athletics director.

Dauksch has been one of the state’s most successful coaches the last two decades. He was a combined 179-56-3 and won 13 conference championships during a 19-year career at McGehee and West Memphis.

McGehee won state championships in 1998 and 1999 under Dauksch. West Memphis finished state runner-up three straight seasons from 2003-05 and the Blue Devils won eight consecutive conference championships from 2004-11.

Prior to McGehee, Dauksch was a longtime assistant coach to Frank McClellan at small-school powerhouse Barton. Dauksch won six state championships during his time with the Bears, which included Barton’s record 63-game win streak in the late 1980s and early ’90s.
