The following is a list of proposals that school representatives will vote on during the Arkansas Activities Association's annual meeting with the governing body, which will be held next month in Little Rock. Proposal No. 1 — If passed, swimming would be split into three classifications: 7A, 6A and remaining schools, effective next season. This proposal has Mountain Home written all over it. It came from Activity District 1-East and claims that Class 6A schools have "no chance at success at the state level whatsoever" because it competes against 7A schools. Bentonville has made its move toward becoming the first school to win the MaxPreps Cup — which is awarded to the nation's best high school athletic program — for a second consecutive year. Bentonville-TigersBentonville, which was in a tie for second place through the fall sports season, now has 818 points after the winter sports have been tabulated. Defending MaxPreps Cup champion Bentonville is in a tie for second place in the 2014-15 standings through the fall sports. Raleigh (N.C.) Cardinal Gibbons is in the lead with 628 points, while Bentonville and Carmel, Ind., both have 580 points. Hindsdale (Ill.) Central and Sioux Falls (S.D) Lincoln round out the top five with 530 and 468 points, respectively. Springdale High set a program record for a second straight week Friday.

The boys and girls’ 200 medley relay teams each qualified for state, giving the Bulldogs a program-record 15 state qualifiers for its swim and dive teams.

“It’s something we’ve been pushing for for the last six years,” coach Matt Hervey said.

The girls relay team of Lauren Lamaestra, Allee Staggs, Jenna Morris and Micah Sutherland qualified first, then the boys team of Spencer Chiang, Andrew Fogg, Eric Brumfield and Robby Hoskins followed it up by qualifying five minutes later.

Springdale High’s dive team set a program record Saturday.

Senior Julia Chandler and freshman Rebecca Martin qualified for state at the NWA 11-Dive Event at the HPER, becoming the Lady Bulldogs’ program-record fourth and fifth diving qualifiers this year. The duo joined junior Cadi Stair, sophomore Anna Spaulding and freshman Caroline Smith as Springdale's state-qualified divers, a sizeable accomplishment for the program.

Saturday wasn’t the only big day this month for Springdale dive.

Springdale won the Hendrix Invitational last week, with Stair capturing the individual title and Spaulding and Chandler finishing third and fourth, respectively. And Spaulding won the Siloam Springs Invitational.

Springdale High won the dive meet in impressive fashion at the Hendrix Invitational in Conway on Friday.

Cadi Stair won the individual title, while fellow Springdale divers Anna Spaulding and Julia Chandler finished third and fourth, respectively, to pave the way for Springdale to take home the team title. The trio had already qualified for the state dive meet prior to the weekend.

The Springdale swim team competed at Hendrix on Saturday and recorded 19 personal bests. Senior Lauren Lamaestra won the 100 backstroke.

The Bulldogs will compete in the Bentonville Invitational at the Jones Center on Thursday.

Springdale High senior Lauren Lamaestra is making her claim as the best female swimmer in program history.

Lamaestra is in the midst of an impressive senior season and has already qualified for state individually in the 200 IM, 50 free, 100 breast and 100 back, along with qualifying as part of the 200 medley relay. She has also participated on Springdale’s cheer and track teams.

Springdale High senior Lauren Lamaestra qualified for state in three events in her first meet of the season to highlight a productive Springdale Invitational for the Lady Bulldogs on Thursday.

Springdale’s girls team finished fifth at the event with 158 points.

More importantly, the Lady Bulldogs qualified five for the state meet. Lamaestra qualified individually in the 50-yard freestyle and 100-yard breastroke, while she, Allee Staggs, Jenna Morris and Stephanie Brito qualified in the 200-yard medley relay. Staggs qualified individually in the 100-yard breaststroke and Morris qualified in the 200-yard IM.
