A big week has become even bigger for Bentonville this week.

The Tigers (7-3-1, 6-3) were already scheduled to play a home match Tuesday against Springdale High and a Friday match at Rogers High. Now the Tigers started the week at home Monday against Springdale Har-Ber in a match that was postponed Friday because of inclement weather, and all of those teams are in the middle of a five-team race near the top of the 7A-West standings.

“It’s going to be a difficult week,” Bentonville … Continue Reading ››

soccer standings 4-24 Bentonville

One of the Lady Tigers’ season goals is within reach this week.

If Bentonville (14-2, 9-0) can sweep its three matches, beginning with Monday’s rescheduled home match against Springdale Har-Ber, the Lady Tigers can wrap up at least a share of the 7A-West Conference championship and the league’s No. 1 seed for the Class 7A girls state tournament, which begins May 11 at Fort Smith Southside.

“It will be good for us to come out and win these three,” Bentonville coach Kristina Henry said. “It’s a big week for us, and there’s … Continue Reading ››

standings Bentonville

Many soccer coaches will say that a two-goal lead is the most dangerous one to have.

Could the same be said about a two-game lead, which is something Bentonville owns in the 7A-West Conference standings after the Lady Tigers claimed a 1-0 victory Friday over Fayetteville?

“It depends on how you look at it,” Bentonville coach Kristina Henry said. “I think the rest of the conference is good enough to knock us off. We don’t want to be too comfortable with it.

“If we don’t continue to make progress with each match, we might lose … Continue Reading ››

The Tigers were caught a little off-guard when Fayetteville jumped out to a quick 1-0 lead within the first three minutes of their match Friday night.

Bentonville, however, regrouped to send the match to a 1-1 tie before halftime, then exploded for four goals in the second half for a 5-1 victory.

“We had chances but didn’t finish in the first half,” Bentonville coach Mike Devaney said. “That’s what we talked about at halftime, and we were able to get those shots and put a … Continue Reading ››

Sibling shenanigans is the topic of this week's ARPreps.com Tweet of the Week. Springdale Har-Ber's do-everything track athlete Olivia Stumbaugh celebrated National Siblings Day by sharing a video of big sis Payton Stumbaugh, a four-time All-American sprinter at the University of Arkansas, apparently attacking her screaming lil' sis with bacon grease.

Hopefully, it wasn't hot outta the fryin' pan. On a side note, research has shown bacon grease, when used as a perfume, may help attract boys: Runner-Up Elkins … Continue Reading ››

Screen Shot 2017-04-10 at 12.39.23 PM Fayetteville In the first season under coach Joe Thoma, who began the program in the 1990s, the Bulldogs have shown marked improvement with each game. However, it has yet to result in a winning record (4-7), especially in 7A-West play (1-5).

They contend well for the majority of each match but haven’t been able to sustain it, for the most part, for a complete game. For instance, they battled Springdale High for 55 minutes, only to see a tight match turn into a 4-1 rout in … Continue Reading ››
