Boys soccer coaches in the 7A/6A-West cleared the air and presented a united front Monday following a controversy regarding buffer games for red cards. The issue came to a head last week after Springdale added a game with Harrison to absorb a red card by Orsy Gonzalez, who was sent off during a conference game with Fayetteville. Wyatt D’Spain made the most of a deflection and scored with more than eight minutes remaining as Bentonville edged Rogers High during 7A/6A-West action Tuesday at Whitey Smith Stadium. Eric Johnson made a long inbounds throw to Josh Howard, whose kick was deflected off a Rogers defender. The ball then went right to D’Spain, who fired it into the goal for Bentonville (9-0-1, 2-0). The Tigers return to action Friday with a home match against Rogers Heritage.
