We really do.

But it seems like someone from Pea Ridge nails an awesome tweet more weeks than not. That's the case again this week thanks to a gem by Pea Ridge boys basketball coach Trent Loyd, who also had our first "Tweet of the Week" when we began this feature 10 weeks ago.

Bentonville has been denied the opportunity to win a third consecutive MaxPreps Cup title this year.

Portland (Ore.) Jesuit ended Bentonville's run and claimed this year's claim to the nation's top athletic program. Jesuit finished with 1,122 points, while Bentonville had 958 points.

The MaxPreps Cup uses state championship performances and national rankings to determine the nation's top overall high school sports programs, and not all sports are used to determine this rankings. It is determined by ranking all schools that win a state championship or finish second at the state level.

The defending champion was down in the fall, but it’s not out yet.

Bentonville, who was unranked in the MaxPreps Cup standings when the fall sports were completed, vaulted itself to the No. 6 spot after the winter sports were finished and is within striking distance of winning that title a third consecutive year. The two-time defending MaxPreps Cup champion finished fall sports with state titles in girls tennis and girls cross country and a state runnerup in boys cross country.

Bentonville, fueled by its state championships in boys and girls swimming and its runnerup finishes in boys basketball and wrestling, has … Continue Reading ››

The following is a list of proposals that school representatives will vote on during the Arkansas Activities Association's annual meeting with the governing body, which will be held next month in Little Rock. Proposal No. 1 — If passed, swimming would be split into three classifications: 7A, 6A and remaining schools, effective next season. This proposal has Mountain Home written all over it. It came from Activity District 1-East and claims that Class 6A schools have "no chance at success at the state level whatsoever" because it competes against 7A schools. The AAA board of directors recommend "Do Not Pass" by a 12-5 … Continue Reading ››
