We’re venturing into uncharted territory in this round of ARPreps.com’s Tweets of the Week.

In the past, only players and coaches from high schools in Northwest Arkansas were eligible for tweets of the week. However, because a player’s piece of game gear has taken on a persona so strong, we’ve decided that equipment — technically — is part of the team, too.

Fanny pack lives matter, in this case.

Fayetteville sophomore kicker Huxley Richardson’s fanny pack is less than a week old in Twitter years, but it’s mature beyond its years in terms of posting clever tweets.

Just take your pick from any of … Continue Reading ››

Bentonville High

While Bentonville's girls golf team enjoyed its first state championship Wednesday in Conway, coach Lindsey Davis was already looking ahead and liking what she saw.

That's because the Lady Tigers' top four golfers should be back next season. Lilly Thomas and Chloe Ellis are juniors this year, while Kinslee Miller is a sophomore and Sydney Billington is a freshman.

"I look to the future, and it looks bright," Davis said.

Thomas, who moved to Bentonville from Heber Springs in December, and Miller each earned all-state honors with their performances. Thomas finished with a two-day total of 158, while Miller shot a 163 … Continue Reading ››

Anytime a player can get one over on their coach, it’s worth an extra laugh.

Fayetteville sophomore hoops standout Sasha Goforth showed that she and teammates Jasmine Franklin and Coriah Beck have brains to go along with basketball ability by posing for photos in order to steal a breather during a workout for coach Vic Rimmer.

Sure many athletes have cut through yards on distance runs through neighborhoods or done other nefarious things behind coaches' backs to lighten their workout load, but this may be the first time technology was used so brilliantly to do so.

Pushing this tweet over the top of … Continue Reading ››

Bentonville High Bentonville's boys golf team closed out its regular season Tuesday afternoon with a 162-181 victory over Van Buren at Bella Vista Country Club. The Tigers won't play again until the Class 7A state tournament, which takes Oct. 3-4 in Fayetteville. In the meantime, coach Kent Early said there's still plenty of work they can do between now and then. "We're going to go out and play a couple of rounds so we can solidify our five spots for the state tournament," Early said. "We have had eight golfers that have shared time in our one through five spots this year. "We're going … Continue Reading ››

Bentonville High With only two matches remaining in the regular season, Bentonville girls golf coach Lindsey Davis is thrilled to see what her players have accomplished. The Lady Tigers continued their winning ways Tuesday with a victory over Rogers Heritage. Bentonville has been unbeaten so far this season, with the closest margin of victory being a two-stroke win (116-118) over Rogers High on Aug. 31. Junior Lilly Thomas and sophomore Kinslee Miller have provided the Lady Tigers with a solid one-two punch, including Tuesday's match when they both shot 37 over nine holes and shared medalist honors with Heritage's Chloe Kordsmeier. "Lilly has stepped … Continue Reading ››

Bentonville High Bentonville girls cross country coach Randy Ramaker wasn't too pleased with his runners' results during the Tiger Pride 5K last month, but a victory at the Saints Invitational in Springdale last weekend made him feel a little better. "Most of them performed at the same caliber or better over a hilly course instead of a flat course," Ramaker said. "That typically happens during the second meet as runners start to figure things out a little bit. "I was happy that many of them performed better than they did earlier. It was the first time for them to run against somebody besides … Continue Reading ››

Bentonville High

Bentonville's boys tennis team came away from Arkansas Tech's courts with a little bit more than the inaugural Arkansas Team Tournament trophy last weekend.

The Tigers also came away with a glimpse of what to expect in the upcoming weeks as the regular season progresses.

"I think this is going to get us ready for conference play a lot sooner than we normally would," Bentonville coach Nick Nersesian said. "It gave me the flexibility to mix and match with some people, in both doubles and singles, and chart the caliber of athletes we played.

"The kids are improving, and that's all I … Continue Reading ››
