Defending MaxPreps Cup champion Bentonville is in a tie for second place in the 2014-15 standings through the fall sports. Raleigh (N.C.) Cardinal Gibbons is in the lead with 628 points, while Bentonville and Carmel, Ind., both have 580 points. Hindsdale (Ill.) Central and Sioux Falls (S.D) Lincoln round out the top five with 530 and 468 points, respectively. The MaxPreps Cup standings are tabulated by ranking all schools that win a state championship or finish second at the state (or section level if there is no state competition) finals. The Arkansas Activities Association has chosen the following locations as host sites for state and regional tournaments Thursday afternoon at its office in North Little Rock. Springdale High senior Jessica Salas is heading into the 7A state cross country meet fresh off a fourth-place finish at the 7A-West Conference meet last week.

Salas, Springdale’s top runner, ran a 19:42.8 at the conference meet and hopes to record a top-five state finish while bettering the personal-record 19:35 she ran at the event last year. She won her season-opening meet at Shiloh Christian.
