With national signing day just around the corner on Feb. 1, we've got several exciting recruiting-related tweets to get to, so we're diving right into the other top tweets from the past week.

But who (or is it whom?? smh) friggin' cares. This is Twitter, not English 101 … Continue Reading ››

As much as anything, social media gives people a voice on social trends and issues.

Our country is in the midst of the most divisive issue in Twitter's decade-long history.

We were hesitant to tackle tweets about the presidential race between Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton in order to keep this space light and fun, but the election is what's on many people's minds as much, of not more, than the Arkansas high school football playoffs.

Now that Trump is President-elect, let's take a look at NWA coaches and players to offer their voice through the most thoughtful, inspiring and entertaining tweets.

Bentonville has been denied the opportunity to win a third consecutive MaxPreps Cup title this year.

Portland (Ore.) Jesuit ended Bentonville's run and claimed this year's claim to the nation's top athletic program. Jesuit finished with 1,122 points, while Bentonville had 958 points.

The MaxPreps Cup uses state championship performances and national rankings to determine the nation's top overall high school sports programs, and not all sports are used to determine this rankings. It is determined by ranking all schools that win a state championship or finish second at the state level.

Points are also weighted, rewarding states that have … Continue Reading ››

State Finals at one site great for baseball fans

Walter Woodie

Walter Woodie is a social studies teacher at Southside High School in Fort Smith and a high school prep historian. A native of Pine Bluff, he has been covering high school sports in Arkansas since 1984 … while he was in high school.
Since 1999, thanks to the Arkansas Activities Association and its member schools, high school baseball fans will be in Nirvana this weekend. For the 18th straight season, baseball championships in all classifications will be played at one site. All but one (2011 at UCA’s Bear Stadium) of those years have been at Baum Stadium on the University of Arkansas campus. Soccer and softball will play their finals here as well. Just like football and basketball, playing the finals at one site gives fans across the state to see the best teams in each classification battle for a state championship. HereContinue Reading ››
