Bentonville’s Hemphill named Athlete of the Week

Bentonville High is 6-1 in 7A-West play and it’s largely due to the play of Jordan Hemphill.

The 6-foot-4 senior guard has scored 19 points or more in four consecutive games to earn ARPreps.com Athlete of the Week honors. He’s also averaged more than five rebounds per game during that time. For the season, Hemphill is averaging 12.8 points per game.

Hemphill scored 10 of his game-high 24 points in the fourth quarter of a 52-44 win against Rogers Heritage last Tuesday. He also had five steals, five rebounds and two assists. He then put up 19 points in a victory against Bentonville West on Friday.

Here’s a look at other top performers and performances from the past week:

Kyrstin Branscum, Gravette, scored 19 points on 11-of-11 shooting from the free throw line in a win against Elkins. Also, the junior had a personal 7-0 run to begin the fourth quarter and finished with 13 points to help Gravette pull away from Pea Ridge on Monday.

Holly Griffin, West Fork, senior scored 16 points during a win Tuesday aginast Gravette to help the Lady Tigers (22-1) bounce back from their first loss of the season.

Joey Hall, Pea Ridge, scored 19 points and 20 points — on 10 of 12 free throw shooting — in wins over Gravette and Shiloh Christian.

Lauren Hargus, Bentonville, scored 18 points and 15 points in wins against Rogers Heritage and Bentonville West last week.

Zane King, Springdale Har-Ber, senior was 8 of 12 on field goals — including three dunks — to finish with a game-high 16 points in a 52-38 win over Rogers Heritage on Friday.

Skyler Montez
, Farmington, scored a team-high 22 points in a 71-48 victory over Siloam Springs.

Emma Palasak, Bentonville, the 5-11 junior scored 18 points off the bench during a 69-42 win over Rogers Heritage.

Will Pridmore, Prairie Grove, sophomore scored a season-high 25 points to lift the Tigers past Greenland on Friday.

McKayla Redmond, Greenland, hit five 3-pointers and finished with 19 points in a 55-44 victory over Prairie Grove.

Makenna Vanzant, Farmington, freshman hit 8 of 10 free throws and had a team-high 17 points in a win against Providence Academy. Vanzant also hit the winning free throw and scored 12 points in a 53-52 win over Siloam Springs.

Matt Wilson, Farmington, scored 22 points in a 54-47 win over Providence Academy on Tuesday.
