Bentonville (14-4, 11-0) had its home game Friday night against Rogers High called off because of inclement weather. That game has now been scheduled for May 9 at the Tiger Athletic Complex.

“It hurts because we could have planned something different as far as training if we knew we weren’t going to play,” Henry said. “We would also prefer not to play on in wet, sloppy conditions.

“On the good side, it allows us to be … Continue Reading ››

7A-WEST GIRLS

Bentonville Kristina Henry has seen opposing teams bunch several players around the goal in hopes of keeping Bentonville from scoring, but that’s not the way Fort Smith Northside did against the Lady Tigers last week. The Lady Bears put the game solely on their defense and placed nine of their 11 players near the box, which forced Bentonville (13-4, 10-0) to take longer shots than usual. “I’ve seen some teams do that, but not that deliberately,” Henry said. “It was definitely a test for our players, and it was causing them to get frustrated. I just kept telling them if we scored one … Continue Reading ››

The Lady Tigers (11-4, 8-0) played three of Oklahoma’s largest schools and came with losses. Bentonville was shut out against Tulsa Union (3-0) and Broken Arrow (2-0), then dropped a 3-2 decision to Jenks.

“It runs the record, but I thought we played well,” coach Kristina Henry said. “The girls responded well and we were able to work on some things when we were under pressure and had to force the issue. I think we … Continue Reading ››

7A-WEST GIRLS REPORT

Screen Shot 2016-04-11 at 4.21.47 PM

BENTONVILLE Bentonville’s girls have six 7A-West Conference games under their belt, and the Lady Tigers have used six different lineups in those games.

One constant with all these changes is that Bentonville (8-1, 6-0) has remained unbeaten in league play heading into Tuesday’s big showdown at Fayetteville, with the winner taking control of first place.

“We have some players that can be used in more than one position,” coach Kristina Henry said. “That way, we can have different looks and different combinations. That part is nice.

“We’ve had … Continue Reading ››

7A-WEST GIRLS NOTEBOOK

Bentonville Bentonville’s girls came back from spring break ready to score goals — in bunches.

The Lady Tigers (7-1, 4-0) celebrated their home opener with a 7-1 victory over Springdale Har-Ber, then came back to record a 4-0 road win over Springdale High to remain unbeaten in 7A-West Conference play.

Coach Kristina Henry was more surprised with how many players scored against Har-Ber than she was the margin of victory. Seven different players scored a goal, including four in a 7-minute span in the second half that forced the sportsmanship rule.

“That’s not normal, but it’s nice,” Henry said. “They came back from spring … Continue Reading ››

Lady War Eagles can’t rest on 2-0 start Rogers Heritage started 7A-West Conference play with two victories before spring break, but coach Craig Frank said the Lady War Eagles have plenty of work left to do.

“We’ve still got 12 games left and we’re looking at it like we’re zero and zero,” Frank said. “We will focus on the next 12, not what we’ve done in the past. Being 2-0 is a great start, but we can’t rest on that. we’ve got to keep building on that."
