Coming off a 44-42 win at 5A Little Rock Christian in Week 2 and a 35-22 win at a 3A Elkins in Week 1, the Saints finally get to play at home and against a fellow 4A opponent.

But that doesn’t mean the final non-conference game will be breeze as Pottsville has averaged nearly nine wins in each of the past six seasons under coach Bryan Rust. The Apaches opened this season with a 35-21 home win against Fountain Lake before losing 21-6 at Class 5A Vilonia this past week.

RAPID REPORT: Shiloh Christian 44, LR Christian 42

Shiloh Christian coach Jeff Conaway planned on going for it on 4th and 4 with :24 seconds remaining in regulation. Instead, he called timeout and sent the field goal unit onto the field. Sophomore Pat Williams, who missed a 33-yarder earlier in the game, connected from 25 yards out to give the Saints a 44-42 victory. The Warriors (0-2) managed to get into field goal range with two quick completions, but Elliot Hankins’ 42-yard field goal attempt sailed a few feet wide left as timid expired. Jackson Bowersock threw for five touchdowns to lead Little Rock Christian’s attack. Connor Reece threw for … Continue Reading ››

Saints hope to slow LR Christian’s playmakers

Shiloh Christian coach Jeff Conaway is hopeful a top offensive lineman can play, but remains uncertain about his top two receivers heading into tonight’s game at Little Rock Christian. Senior center Chase Bowerman missed the season-opening, 35-22 win at Elkins after suffering an ankle injury in a preseason scrimmage at Springdale. Bowerman is a third-year starter and handles all the calls up front. Tyler Roth and Jake Nelson, who combined for more than 100 catches and nearly 2,000 yards in 2015, didn’t play against Elkins due to leg injuries. Roth is doubtful to play while Nelson is questionable after practicing “very, very … Continue Reading ››

Following a physical, 21-20 overtime win against Ozark, Gravette coach Bill Harrelson is happy to report no new injuries. However, the Lions will continue to be without receiver/safety Chris Childress, who suffered a knee injury during preseason practices, when they travel to Booneville for another stiff non-conference test at 7 p.m. Friday. “We’re still going to miss Chris Childress, but we did feel fortunate to get out (of Friday’s win) without any injuries,” Harrelson said.
