Arkansas Prep FB Playoff Scenarios

At the outset, let me say the following scenarios are NOT 100 percent conclusive. Though I feel comfortable with the ones listed here, there are potentially hundreds (if not thousands) of scenarios where 208 teams in 26 conferences can finish in terms of conference seeding.

With that disclaimer, let’s get to it:

Here is the link to the Arkansas Activities Association tiebreaker procedures.

CLASS 7A
7A-Central – The top 2 seeds are clinched as top-seed North Little Rock and second-seeded Fort Smith Northside has each earned a first-round bye. Bryant is the 3 seed with a win over Conway, but a Conway and Cabot win could create a 3-way tie for third. If Bryant wins and Cabot loses to NLR, then Bryant is the 3 seed, Conway the 4 seed and Cabot the 5 seed.
Fort Smith Southside is in the playoffs with a win over Northside or a LR Catholic loss to LR Central. Southside could even get a four seed with a win by 9 points or more while Conway and Cabot lose, dropping Conway to fifth and Cabot sixth, though if Southside wins by eight points or less it would be the sixth seed as Conway would be fourth and Cabot fifth. Catholic gets the sixth seed with a win and Southside loss.

7A-West – Right now, there is a three-way tie for first place between (with tiebreaker points in parenthesis) Fayetteville (65), Springdale Har-Ber (65) and Bentonville (55). If Fayetteville and Springdale Har-Ber both win on Friday by 4 points or more, then Fayetteville is the 1 seed, Har-Ber is the 2 seed and Bentonville is the 3 seed. All three teams will be heavily favored to win Friday night. Bentonville West is the fourth seed. Rogers and Springdale will meet Friday night for the fifth and sixth seeds.

CLASS 6A
6A-East – Jonesboro is the top seed with a win. Pine Bluff is the 2 seed with a win, and the 1 seed with a win and Jonesboro loss. If Jonesboro and Pine Bluff win, West Memphis is the third seed and Marion the fourth seed. If Marion and West Memphis win, there is a possibility for a 3-way tie for second with Jonesboro. In that scenario, West Memphis is the second seed, Marion is the third seed and Jonesboro is the fourth seed. In these scenarios, Mountain Home is the fifth seed and Searcy sixth.
If Mountain Home defeats West Memphis and Jonesboro beats Marion, there is a three-way tie for third between Mountain Home, West Memphis and Marion. If Mountain Home and Marion wins, then Marion is the two seed, Jonesboro third, Mountain Home fourth and West Memphis fifth. Searcy would be locked in as the sixth.

6A-West – Greenwood is the top seed with a win or a Russellville win. Russellville is the two seed with a win, but a loss and Lake Hamilton win over Greenwood, the Lake Hamilton is the 1 seed, Greenwood 2 and Russellville 3. In a 3-way tie scenario (A Lake Hamilton win and Russellville win), Greenwood is the 1 seed, Russellville 2 and Lake Hamilton 3. Benton is locked in as the 4 seed while El Dorado and Texarkana play for the 5 and 6 seeds.

CLASS 5A
5A-Central – Pulaski Academy is the top seed, Sylvan Hills is the 2 seed while LR McClellan is the 3 seed. LR Christian is the fourth seed with a win, but Beebe can take the seed with a win and a LR Christian loss.

5A-East – Wynne is the top seed and Batesville is the second seed. Forrest City and Blytheville are each in and will play for the 3 and 4 seeds.

5A-South – White Hall is the top seed with a win. Hot Springs Lakeside is the 2 seed with a win, but a win and White Hall loss can give Lakeside the 1 seed. Watson Chapel is in and is the three seed with a win. Magnolia is the four seed with a win or Hot Springs loss, and can be the third seed with a win and Watson Chapel loss.
Hot Springs is in as the fourth seed with a win over Lakeside, a Watson Chapel win and a Magnolia loss. Should there be a three-way tie between Magnolia, Watson Chapel and Hot Springs at 4-3, it depends on where Magnolia and Hot Springs are in points as to who gets in between those two teams (Watson Chapel will either be the third or fourth seed in that scenario).

5A-West – Alma is the top seed with a win. Greenbrier is the 2 seed with win and is the top seed with a win and Alma loss. Harrison is third seed with a win. Morrilton is the fourth seed, but can get the three seed with a win and Harrison loss.

CLASS 4A
4A-1 – Prairie Grove is the top seed, Shiloh Christian and Pea Ridge are playing for the 2-3 seeds while Gravette is the fourth seed. Huntsville is the 5 seed with a win over Berryville. Lincoln can be the 5 seed with a win and Huntsville loss.

4A-2 – Heber Springs is the top seed with a win and a likely 2 seed with a loss. If Heber Springs loses, then the Central Arkansas Christian-Stuttgart winner will be the 1 seed, but if Heber Springs wins, then the CAC-Stuttgart winner is the 2 seed. Batesville Southside could be in the mix in a three-way tie for second if Heber Springs loses, but is the likely four seed. Helena-West Helena is the fifth seed.

4A-3 – Gosnell is the top seed, Pocahontas is the second seed, Trumann and Highland will play for the 3-4 seeds and Jonesboro Westside is the fifth seed.

4A-4 – Dardanelle is the top seed with a win over Waldron. Booneville is the second seed with a win over Subiaco while Dover and Ozark are likely playing for the 3-4 seeds. Waldron is the five seed with a win, but Pottsville is the five seed with a win and Waldron loss.

4A-7 – Nashville is the top seed and Pulaski Robinson is the second seed. Ashdown is the three seed with a win leaving Mena the fourth seed, but a Ashdown loss and Mena win makes the Bearcats the third seed. Malvern or Fountain Lake are the likely five seed, but if both lose and Arkadelphia wins, a three-way tie at 2-5 exist so tiebreakers will be used to settle that seed.

4A-8 – Warren is the top seed while Dumas and Hamburg meet to settle the 2-3 seeds. Crossett is the fourth seed with a win, giving the fifth seed to Monticello. However, if Star City beats Crossett coupled with a Monticello win creates a 3-way between Crossett, Star City and Monticello for the fourth and fifth seeds. If Star City wins and Monticello loses, then Star City is fourth and Crossett fifth.

CLASS 3A
3A-1 – Mountain View is the top seed with a win leaving Elkins the second seed and Clinton third. If Clinton beats Mountain View and Elkins win, then a 3-way tie exists for the top 3 seeds. Greenland and Melbourne will meet to decide the fourth and fifth seeds.

3A-2 – Bald Knob is the 1 seed with a win over Cedar Ridge leaving Harding Academy the 2 seed and Cedar Ridge the third seed. If Cedar Ridge and Harding Academy wins, then a three-way tie exists and tiebreakers will decide the top 3 seeds. Mayflower is fourth win a win over Marianna and Barton is the fifth seed. If Marianna and Barton wins, then a 3-way tie exists between Mayflower, Barton and Marianna with tiebreaker deciding the fourth and fifth seed.

3A-3 – Rivercrest is the top seed with a win over Osceola leaving Newport as the 2 seed. Newport can get the 1 seed with a win and Rivercrest loss. Piggott is the third seed, but could be a higher seed if Rivercrest loses. Walnut Ridge and Manila can clinch playoff spots with wins, though Osceola and Hoxie are still alive. There is potential for a lot of different tiebreakers depending on this week’s results.

3A-4 – Charleston is the top seed, Atkins is the two seed and Perryville is the fifth seed. Lamar and Paris will meet for the 3-4 seeds.

3A-5 – Prescott is the top seed and Glen Rose is the second seed. Centerpoint is the third seed with a win or Jessieville loss. Jessieville can get the third seed with a win and Centerpoint loss. Haskell Harmony Grove and Horatio will meet for the fifth seed.

3A-6 – The top three seeds are set – Fordyce is the top seed, Junction City is the second seed and McGehee is the third seed. Smackover is the fourth seed with a win or Fouke loss, while the Fouke-Lake Village winner is the fifth seed. If Smackover loses and Fouke wins, then Fouke is the fourth seed and Smackover is the fifth seed.

CLASS 2A
2A-3 – The five teams who are in the playoffs – Cross County, East Poinsett County, Earle, Marked Tree and Salem – are set. Only Salem as the fifth seed is locked in. Cross County (4-1) meets Marked Tree (3-2) while Earle (4-1) meets East Poinsett County and those two games will decide the top two seeds.

2A-4 – Danville is the top seed while Hackett is the second and Mountainburg third. Lavaca is the fourth seed with a win leaving Johnson County Westside fifth. JC Westside can take the fourth seed with a win and Lavaca loss.

2A-5 – England is the top seed and Hector is the two seed. A Conway Christian win over Bigelow leaves Conway Christian third, Quitman fourth and Magnet Cove fifth. Quitman can be the third seed with a win and Conway Christian loss. A Bigelow win and Magnet Cove loss gives Bigelow the fifth seed.

2A-6 – Des Arc is the top seed. Palestine-Wheatley is the two seed with a win and a McCrory win over Carlisle. In that scenario, McCrory is the third seed and Carlisle fourth. If Carlisle wins, the Carlisle is second, Palestine-Wheatley is third and McCrory is fourth. McCrory is second by beating Carlisle while Palestine-Wheatley loses, making Carlisle the third seed and Palestine-Whealey fourth. Clarendon is the fifth seed with a win while Hazen is the fifth seed with a win and Clarendon loss. If both Clarendon and Hazen lose, a 3-way tie exists with Augusta, but Clarendon beat both so it owns the fifth seed in this scenario.

2A-7 – The five bids are set – Mount Ida, Dierks, Murfreesboro, Foreman and Lafayette County. Lafayette County is the only team locked in as the fifth seed. Dierks is the top seed with a win over Murfreesboro, while Mount Ida is the 2 seed and Murfreesboro the three seed and Foreman the fourth seed. If Mount Ida and Murfreesboro win, Mount Ida is the top seed while Murfreesboro the second seed while Foreman is the third seed with a win and Dierks the fourth seed.

2A-8 – Hampton is the top seed. There is a three-way tie for second between Camden Harmony Grove, Bearden and Rison, so there are a lot of scenarios possible for the three teams becoming either the second, third and fourth seeds. There is also a three-way tie for fifth between Parkers Chapel, Woodlawn and Strong so there are a lot of scenarios that will decide the fifth seed
