Shiloh Christian senior WR/DB Adler Goode enjoyed a breakout season in 2013, with 35 catches for more than 500 yards and seven touchdowns.
He is among a number of returning skill position players for the Saints this season, who hope to return to their glory days when the program won three consecutive Class 4A state championships.
Goode was in a protective boot on Saturday for a high ankle sprain. He is sitting out Monday’s scrimmage at Springdale High, but said he would be ready to go against Charleston in the season opener on Sept. 4 in Fort Smith.
On Saturday, Goode and his Saints teammates held their media day. We caught up with him between photo shoots.
1st Down: You had a solid junior season, what are your goals for this season?
AG: Last year I ended up short of making all-conference, so this year I’m hoping to make all-state and over 1,000 receiving yards.
2nd Down: What have you done over the offseason to prepare for this season?
AG: I worked out with Daniel Shimer, our quarterback from last year. We ran together up here close to once or twice a week. We threw a lot. He’s trying out for receiver at Arkansas. Dillon Sharp threw to me and Daniel over the summer.
3rd Down: How has the transition to the new coaching staff gone?
AG: We changed up some of the plays, we have new signs for everything. I like it a lot. We’re more energetic and practices have been really fun.
4th Down: You will also play defensive back. How are you preparing to face Charleston and four-star quarterback Ty Storey in the opener in Fort Smith?
AG: He’s a great quarterback. He’s been offered by pretty much everyone, but we’ll treat him like every quarterback we will face this year. We respect all our opponents. But I’m excited for it, to see how good we really are.
